This lens with an aperture value of F1.0 was announced at Photokina in 1976 as the brightest lens in the world. It was released after being redesigned and even brighter than its predecessor, the F1.2. The E58 is the size of the filter diameter, which immediately translates to the E60 filter size.

It is said that not only was the diameter (size) of the filter changed, but the crystal itself that is the base of the lens element was also changed at this time. Of course, there must have been slight changes in the design and specifications along with that.

So the E58 itself is quite rare, with very few units available, but I don't rate it highly because it's rare, but because the image it produces is extremely excellent. This is because of the aforementioned crystal, the slight changes in specifications, and above all, the Leica's enthusiasm to present the world's best lens at Photokina. There's no doubt that it is made with considerably higher specifications. Of course, it can't be produced in large numbers. It's also expensive. As a result, we have the E60.

Anyway, I would like everyone to try using this lens and experience its merits. If you keep in mind the characteristics of this lens, it will produce images just as you imagine them, making it a true high-end Leica model.

*The lens is in excellent condition with no uneven coating, scratches, cracks, or cloudiness, and is perfectly functional.
There are a few small scratches on the lens exterior, but they are not noticeable and can be seen in the product images. A hood and filter are included.
