ROLEX EXPLORER1 1958 model has arrived. The reference may sound unfamiliar, but it is 5504. It is often mistaken for the 5500 with a 33mm case. The Ref. 5504 is the same size as the 1016 with a case diameter of 36mm and a lug width of 20mm, and the Explorer 1 that was remodeled on April 7th. However, the case is a little thinner. It is said that this Explorer 1 was made for North America at the time. The Ref. 5504 is also the part number for the "Big Air King". The Ref. 5500 is the regular Air King.

The selling point of this watch is the dial. The design of the hour markers and minute circle of the Ref. 6350 are almost the same. It has a cute feel to it. And the position of the "EXPLORER" lettering is different from the 6350. It is on the 12 o'clock side. The 1016 is originally on the 12 o'clock side.
The other feature is the white second hand. This is also an original and rare feature. There are various theories as to why this is the case, but we won't go into detail here.

As for the condition, I think it is in pretty good condition, including the movement. The luster of the dial is still even, and it comes with a Swiss rivet bracelet that is barely stretched (stamped '65).
