The Explorer 1 is an indispensable model in the long history of Rolex sports. It is a classic Rolex model with collectors all over the world. Among them, the Ref. 6610 is equipped with the Cal. 1030, the first to use a bidirectional winding rotor, further improving winding efficiency and reliability.
The dial is a unique piece with a varnished finish typical of the late 1950s, radium luminescence, a minute circle dial with a circle on the outer edge, and gold hands. The crown is also original from that time, with a + mark under the crown mark. This is a very original piece.
The dial is original radium with no chipping of luminous material. The hands are also original, gold-handled radium, and are also original. The movement is Cal. 1030 with a bidirectional winding butterfly rotor, low beat with a daily rate of +2 seconds, which is formidable accuracy. The bracelet is FF80 / 7206 Swiss rivet.
I also really like the Explorer, and although I have the 1016 and 14270, I also want the MM 6610 and 5504. I think it's fine to own multiple Explorers, as long as they are from different eras and references.
It is expected that it will become increasingly difficult to find such highly original and well-conditioned specimens in the future, so do not miss this chance.
