The Ref. 2551 is a classic along with the Ref. 2526 Tropical of old Patek. It features the dauphine hands and wedge-shaped indexes characteristic of the 50s, as well as a beautiful dial with an inlaid enamel finish. If the Ref. 2526 Tropical is porcelain, the Ref. 2551 is inlaid enamel, and both are indispensable old Pateks.
Cal.12-600AT is the first automatic movement that Patek had been working on since the 1950s. Since Rolex had already released automatic movements in the 1930s, I imagine that Patek had commercialized the first and best automatic movement.
The overall condition is good. The lugs look rounded in the pictures, but they are not thin and the edges have just naturally rounded off. They could be refinished to bring out the lines and edges, but they are best left as they are.
It also has an original PP crown and screw back, making it a watch that has all the essential features.
And the combination of the wedge index and the dauphine hand is just great. It's hard to find anywhere else.
An article about the interview has been published on the GOETHE WEB edition.
