The Submariner, which was just announced (September 1, 2020) as a new model, is a hot topic. The reference 1680 can be said to be the origin of the date model. Until then, there were only models without a date, but the 1680 marked the beginning of the history of the Submariner with a date. Here is the 1977 model.
You might think you can buy it anytime, but before you know it, there are no genuine originals and it's surprisingly hard to find, as various parts have been changed.

Looking around the market, there are only "red subs" with calendars, and it's unclear whether they are real or fake. I'd like to get a neat white sub now.
