Open 6 feet first. 通称"赤サブ"と呼ばれる6時位置のSUBMARINERの文字が赤いモデル。昔からとにかくフェイクの文字盤が多いモデルでもありました。デイトナ6263/6265ビッグレッド同様にモデル名が赤く6時位置に入ったモデルは、やはり特別なわけです。72〜73年あたりに存在するマーク5ダイヤルはSUBMARINERのSがストレートSでオープン6です。4型とは見分け難いですが、SUBMARINERの文字がスッキリ赤でプリントされています。4型は白のSUBMARINERの上から赤でプリントを載せているので、下の白が少しはみ出しています。オリジナルのベゼルも少しフェードしてゴーストっぽくなっていて全体の雰囲気がとにかく自然で良いです。僕はヴィンテージロレックスを見る際ファーストインプレッションで何処も違和感が無い、この自然な感じを重視します。そんな自然な筋の良い1本。とにかく赤サブは今かなり安いので良い物を手に入れるには良い時期です。

Red SUBMARINER 1680 Mk.5 1972y. Open 6 feet first. This model, commonly known as the "Red Sub," has the SUBMARINER lettering at the 6 o'clock position in red. This model has always had a lot of fake dials. Like the Daytona 6263/6265 Big Red, models with the model name in red at the 6 o'clock position are special. The Mark 5 dials that existed around 1972-1973 have a straight S in SUBMARINER and an open 6. It's hard to distinguish from the Type 4, but the SUBMARINER lettering is neatly printed in red. The Type 4 has the red print over the white SUBMARINER, so the white underneath shows through a little. The original bezel is also slightly faded, giving it a ghostly look, and the overall atmosphere is very natural and nice. When I look at vintage Rolex watches, I value this natural feeling, where there is no sense of incongruity anywhere in the first impression. This is such a natural and excellent piece. Anyway, the Red Submariner is quite cheap right now, so it's a good time to get a good one.
