We have received the extremely rare Double Red Sea-Dweller (Red Seed) 1665 Mark II.
The serial number range for each dial below allows you to roughly judge the compatibility of the case and dial.
Mark I Dial, 1.6-2.2 mil
Mark II Dial, 1.6-3.5 mil
Mark III Dial, 2.6-3.5 to 4.1 mil
Mark IV Dial, 3.0-5.2 mil
This particular watch has a serial number of 30x~, so it is definitely a 1972 Mark II. The important thing here is the engraving on the back cover and the engraving on the inside of the back cover.
The engraving on the back cover says "Patent obtained" with the word ROLEX surrounding it. On the previous Mark 1, it said "Patent pending".
On the inside, the last three or first three digits of the serial number are engraved, as well as the year of manufacture. If the case serial number and the engravings on the outside and inside of the back cover match, you can be sure it is a good watch.
The bracelet is a 9315. The bezel disc is also original. A quote for overhaul from Rolex Japan is also included.
This is a fine specimen with a good balance of sharp lines. It is a piece that can be added to your collection or used for everyday use.
