1956年、Big Oyster Ref.6424。ミラーダイヤル入荷。
通常のOysterは34mm。6424はひと回り大きい36mmケースで、Big Oysterと呼ばれています。
珍しいギルトダイヤルの個体で、大きな荒れはなく、文字盤・針の夜光もオリジナルです。ROLEX OYSTERの文字が金色、下部のPRECISIONはシルバーインク。
少し大きめのダイヤルでデイト表記がないぶん、シンプルな印象。ケースは薄く裏面がフラットで、着けると思ったより軽いです。見た目の存在感と、実際の着け心地のバランスがいい一本。

A 1956 Big Oyster Ref.6424 with gilt dial.

While most Oyster models came in 34mm cases, the Ref.6424 was made in a slightly larger 36mm case, which is why collectors call it the Big Oyster.
This example features a very uncommon gilt dial.
The “ROLEX OYSTER” text is printed in gold, while the “PRECISION” at the bottom is done in silver ink.

On the wrist, the lack of a date keeps the dial especially clean, and the slightly larger dial opening makes it feel very open and spacious. At the same time, the case is thin and flat, so it wears better than you might expect. It has a clear presence, but also a very natural fit on the wrist.
