An extremely rare Daytona has arrived. The name "Daytona" was given to the watch after the transition from reference 6238 to 6239, when the tachymeter bezel and dial changed, leading to the current Daytona. The very first 6239 Daytona did not have the word DAYTONA written on it, to be precise, so this is the first dial to actually have the word DAYTONA written on it. The DAYTONA silver is discreetly printed with a small gap on the 12 o'clock side. Models without the silver bar are commonly known as Le Mans, and are also rare.
And the most distinctive feature of this watch is the -T SWISS T- inscription at the 6 o'clock position on the dial, which has another SWISS letter written underneath it. This is what they call Double Swiss.
The hands are quite long, and the small second hand at 9 o'clock is extremely thin, which are original features. There are very few watches with perfectly aligned hands.
The original pushers are short, but these are often replaced with longer ones in most cases.
The case has the early rounded shape, with a narrow crown that is not bulging. This is also a characteristic of the early cases.
Because it is so rare, it is often offered as a collector's item at auctions around the world alongside "Le Mans" and "Paul Newman" cars, and is traded at high prices.
I think this is a great piece to add to your collection.
