The original Vacheron Constantin 222. This model was born in 1977 to commemorate the 222nd anniversary, designed by Jorge Hysek. Equipped with Jaeger-LeCoultre's ultra-thin automatic movement, it is one of the pioneering masterpieces of luxury sports that still looks fresh today. Like the Nautilus for Patek, the Royal Oak for AP, and the 222 for Vacheron. Personally, this is one of my favorites. In particular, the solid gold version is extremely difficult to obtain, as there are only a few of them. The 222 was reissued in 2022, and the market is even more lively. The original 222 is still available at an affordable price, so this may be your last chance. Archive application pending.
Vacheron Constantin 222 (Original Model)
Originally introduced in 1977 to commemorate Vacheron Constantin's 222nd anniversary, this model was designed by Jorg Hysek. It is equipped with an ultra-thin automatic movement by Jaeger-LeCoultre, making it one of the pioneering masterpieces of the luxury sports watch category—still strikingly fresh even today. Just as Patek Philippe has the Nautilus and Audemars Piguet has the Royal Oak, Vacheron Constantin's icon is the 222.
Personally, it's a watch I'm very fond of. Solid gold versions are especially scarce, making them extremely difficult to acquire. The market became even more active with the 2022 reissue of the 222. You can still get your hands on an original 222 at a somewhat attainable price, which could very well be the last opportunity to do so. Archive application in progress.
