This is one of the first batches of black-painted M4s manufactured in 1967. It is generally believed that the black-painted M4 was first produced in 1968, but only 500 units with serial numbers 1181501 to 1182000 were produced in 1967.
The early batches have a paint texture, and the screws on the accessory shoe and the area around the back door are all finished in black paint. On the other hand, it is true that there are very few left in this original state. There are almost no signs of use on this M4 paint... The black paint specifications are similar to the M2 black paint and M3 black paint, so there are a few blaster marks (dots). For later batches, the paint and the number of coats have changed, so it looks like the paint is piled up in a thick layer.
A camera is worth its weight in gold, but I don't think this one should be used much... This is a body that I would like to pass on to the next generation in this condition. We will gradually come to understand that the saying that M4 paint is cheap because there are many of them does not apply to this lot.
Now is the time to buy, so I highly recommend it.
