■Iron Maiden x Ukiyo-e Concept Iron Maiden is known for not only their music but also for their album covers that tell a story. This story is reflected in the artwork, and when it was turned into an ukiyo-e print, the story was carefully considered. This time, Eddie came to the Edo period and recorded his mischief, which was recorded by an Edo ukiyo-e artist of the time. I created a fictional setting in which it was drawn as a yokai picture (※). (※) Yokai art is a genre of ukiyo-e, and KISS Ukiyo-e also features yokai art. There is also a work based on this motif called "Four Kissing Demons." The logo on the top right of the piece is based on the legendary torture device "Iron Maiden", and features the characters "Iron Maiden no Uchi" (Legends of Unclean Deeds). The characters mean "a legend that records unclean deeds". ■Introduction to the Iron Maiden Ukiyo-e "Tsujigiri Eddie" This is their second album, which is considered their masterpiece, and was produced as a homage to "The Killers," one of the greatest albums in metal history. "Jack the Ripper" is thought to be the Japanese equivalent of the street slasher of the Edo period, so we have created a Japanese version of "Jack the Ripper." The kanji used for the character "Edi" conveys the idea of an obsession with destruction, and rather than being a literal image of a destroyer, the design is boldly crafted to portray something that "breaks down preconceived notions" and "cuts down negative things and existences with a single stroke." Also, the strips of paper often seen in ukiyo-e prints are often used to depict the torture devices of the Steel Maiden. The motif is the kanji characters "Egyo Meiden no Uchi" (Iron Maiden no Uchi) written on the strip of paper.
