It was initially based on the reference 5513 and had a helium escape valve at the 9 o'clock position on the case, and was issued to COMEX employees. The second model had the familiar "COMEX" printed prominently on the dial at the 6 o'clock position, and the reference was 5514. The first model is a reference 5513, has no COMEX notation on the dial, and has ROLEX and COMEX engravings on the case back, as well as a small COMEX issued number engraved in sequential order. This particular watch was overhauled by Rolex UK in 1998 and Rolex Japan in 2004.
