It's been a long time since I've seen a Submariner 5512MM/Gilt/PCG/1961y. The 5512 was introduced in 1959 and only had two rows of circle mirrors until 1961. Why? Well, the non-chronometer 5513 started in 1962, so there was no need to differentiate the dial. From 1962 onwards, 4 lines were introduced to differentiate it from the 5513. The 6-dot dial was only available on the 1962-1963 dials, so by process of elimination, we can see that this dial is the first 5512. Of course, Only SWISS. From 1961 to 1964, all sports models had dials with underscores and 6-dots, so it was controversial, but there's no doubt that this dial was the only choice for the 1961 5512.
The case and back engraving also match 5512. It's a pretty good piece. The price is set low!
The dial is the original minute track mirror dial (gilt dial) and is untouched, including the luminous material. Both the case and back cover are in good condition with almost no polishing. The hands are also original radium and untouched. Also, many Submariners have corroded parts of the case where the back cover has been removed, or the back cover itself, but this one is clean and has no corrosion, as shown in the image.
The movement is a 1530 chronometer with a butterfly rotor. This is also often replaced during overhauls. What's nice is that it has the original crown without the three dots. Crowns with only the crown mark are also hard to find. Only the bezel disc has been replaced with a later one, but we will try to find an original one as much as possible to include with it.
